5. Important Advice for 2026

  • Shift Work Warning: This is a 24/7 operation. You must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

  • The "Technical" Logic: As an Engineering student, you have a major advantage in the Utilities section. You likely understand the technical terms for electrical faults or water system failures better than the average applicant. Mention this in your interview—it shows you can log "technical" tickets more accurately.

  • Kempton Park Hub: Many of these call centres are near the Kempton Park area. If you are applying from Limpopo, mention that you have a plan for accommodation in the East Rand should you be hired.

  • Deadline: Today is 12 May 2026. You have exactly 10 days left. Municipal systems often crash on the final day, so aim to submit by Friday, 15 May.

6. Why Work for Ekurhuleni?

  • Government Benefits: Permanent staff receive a 13th cheque, housing allowance, and medical aid contribution.

  • Career Growth: The Metro is huge. Starting in the call centre is a common way to transition into Technical Support or Administration later on.

  • Public Service: You are directly helping to improve the lives of millions of residents by ensuring their problems are heard and solved.
