Minimum Requirements
Qualification: Must allow registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant
Registration: Active registration with SANC
Experience:
Grade 1: No experience required
Grade 2: Minimum 10 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration
Grade 3: Minimum 20 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care)
Measure and record vital signs
Operate nursing equipment safely and correctly
Provide basic nursing care and ensure patient safety
Implement infection control and waste management practices
Assist professional nurses with clinical procedures
Prepare patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures
Deliver health education to patients and families
Perform delegated duties within the scope of Nursing Assistant
Skills & Knowledge
Good communication skills (verbal and written)
Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation
Ethical standards and patient care principles
Flexibility for compulsory shift work
