Job Description
The primary responsibility is to protect assets, property, and staff by creating a safe environment. This includes identifying criminal activities, investigating disturbances, and adhering to the Private Security Industry Regulations Act.
Key Responsibilities
Patrols & Vigilance: Conduct random patrols to identify suspicious activities and deter theft or damage.
Access Control: Monitor entrance points for vehicles and pedestrians; search staff, suppliers, and merchandisers.
Reporting: Maintain occurrence books and registers; report unusual behavior or damage to management.
Customer Service: Provide courteous assistance to guests and employees while maintaining a security presence.
Site Security: Manage opening and closing procedures, ensuring all doors/windows are locked and taps are turned off.
Emergency Response: Assist in evacuations and contact emergency authorities (police/fire) when necessary.
Surveillance: Monitor alarm systems and CCTV cameras.
Requirements
Essential:
Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
Certification: Valid Grade C PSIRA accreditation.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the retail industry (shopping malls or warehouses).
Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Vetting: Clear criminal and credit record (MIE).
Advantageous:
1 year of specific experience in a similar security role.
Proficiency in a 3rd language.
