About the Dis-Chem Frontshop Assistant Role

The Frontshop Assistant will help maintain Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards while also assisting customers at the point of sale. The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that products are well displayed, shelves are stocked, pricing is correct and customers receive friendly and helpful service.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following essential requirements:

  • 0–6 months retail work experience
  • Good customer service skills

Advantageous Requirements

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily frontshop operations. Duties include:

  • Ensuring full product ranges are available on shelves
  • Keeping shelves neat, clean and well presented
  • Restocking merchandise when needed
  • Checking stock expiry dates and reporting expired or damaged items
  • Following up on customer out-of-stock queries
  • Packing delivered stock in the correct areas
  • Making sure labels and prices are correct
  • Keeping the storeroom neat and organised
  • Assisting customers with product information and general enquiries
  • Processing purchases, returns and exchanges when authorised
  • Handling payments, loyalty cards, vouchers and coupons
  • Following cash-handling and drop-safe procedures
  • Supporting stocktaking and stock file counts
  • Reporting suspicious behaviour to management
  • Following Dis-Chem policies, health and safety rules and uniform requirements

Skills and Competencies Needed
