Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • ABET Level 4, Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification
  • Good physical condition
  • Ability and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be productive and follow instructions

Cleaning experience in a hospital environment will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for keeping the hospital environment clean, safe and hygienic. Duties include:

  • Cleaning designated areas such as windows, walls, basins, sinks, lockers, beds, kitchens and bathrooms
  • Sweeping, mopping and polishing floors
  • Providing routine general cleaning and support services
  • Opening windows daily for hygiene and infection control purposes
  • Damp and dry dusting
  • Emptying dustbins in designated areas
  • Cleaning toilets and updating cleaning checklists according to hygiene standards
  • Requesting and replacing toilet paper, towels and hand soap
  • Removing and storing waste in designated areas
  • Reporting hazardous conditions in the working environment
  • Maintaining environmental cleanliness
  • Cleaning and taking care of cleaning equipment
  • Safeguarding cleaning materials and equipment
  • Reporting electrical or mechanical faults on cleaning machines and other equipment
  • Following instructions from supervisors

Applications without a completed new Z83 form and detailed CV will be disqualified.
