Available Learnership Tracks & Specific Minimum Requirements

Track 1: Engineering Learnership – Auto Electrician

This technical track focuses on developing heavy-duty earthmoving and underground mining machinery diagnostics and wiring expertise.
Requirements: A completed Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science OR a relevant N2 / N3 Technical Certificate with four subjects passed: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Auto Electrical Trade Theory, and Industrial Electronics/Engineering Drawings.
Core Aptitude: Strong spatial awareness, diagnostic problem-solving logic, physical fitness to work in a mining environment, and zero color blindness (critical for intricate circuit wiring identification).
Advantageous: Prior institutional phase-training or practical exposure assisting in a mechanical or electrical workshop environment.
Track 2: Human Resources (HR) Learnership
This administrative track focuses on core people systems, compliance tracking, and employee relations within a heavy industrial corporate framework.
Requirements: A completed Grade 12 (Matric) certificate paired with a recognized 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or Industrial Psychology.
Core Aptitude: High computer literacy (proficiency in Excel, Word, and data entry arrays), excellent communication skills in English, and strong numerical accuracy for processing personnel records.
Advantageous: Unemployed graduates residing within the immediate local mining communities of Rustenburg.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Exposure
Auto Electrician Learners:
Learning to read complex electrical schematic diagrams and troubleshooting automated circuit faults on underground and surface mining fleets.
Assisting qualified Artisans with rewiring alternators, starter motors, battery management systems, and electronic sensor arrays.
Adhering to strict Lockout-Tagout safety procedures and the Mine Health and Safety Act guidelines.

HR Learners:
Supporting the regional HR department with processing recruitment applications, employee data validation, and training log tracking.
Assisting with the administration of employee benefits, leave records, and structural workforce onboarding workflows.
Compiling routine HR compliance data logs and maintaining orderly personnel document systems under senior mentorship.
