Position Purpose
The General Worker (Mechanical) assists the maintenance team with repairs, preventative maintenance, and workshop upkeep to ensure equipment and facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant with occupational health and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
General maintenance tasks: spray‑painting, basic welding, grinding, ad hoc repairs
Preventative maintenance: fixing leaks, replacing bearings, inspecting silos
Assist with repairs to extruders, dryers, Nerak elevator buckets
Clean and maintain coating machinery
Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Food Safety (FSSC 22000) standards
Identify hazards, report risks, and implement corrective actions
Maintain hygiene and housekeeping in workshop areas
Candidate Requirements
Qualification: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
Experience: 1–2 years in maintenance or similar hands‑on role
Other: Valid driver’s licence (Code B) advantageous
Skills:
Manual dexterity and tool handling
Clear communication and teamwork
Problem‑solving ability
Knowledge of painting, maintenance tools, and production machinery (compressed air silos, hammermills, extruders, dryers, coating machinery)
