Position Purpose
The Foreman Electrical SF oversees electrical installations, maintenance, and operations within the smelter. The role combines technical supervision, operational planning, safety management, and team leadership to ensure reliable power distribution and equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and compliance
Promote OHS principles and enforce regulations
Conduct hazard identification, risk reporting, and inspections
Electrical maintenance
Supervise installation, servicing, and replacement of electrical equipment
Monitor cabling, power distribution, and breakdown requests
Planning and coordination
Schedule daily/weekly/monthly work priorities
Coordinate shutdowns and allocate resources
Team leadership
Supervise artisans and assistants
Provide mentorship, induction, and coaching
Administration
Prepare reports, maintain labour/overtime records, and ensure audit compliance
Candidate Requirements
Qualification:
Grade 12 with Maths & Science
Qualified Electrician (Trade Certificate)
Foreman Certificate, Electrical Diploma, or MV competence advantageous
Experience:
Minimum 5 years post‑trade experience
Supervisory experience preferred
Skills:
Electrical safety, risk management, incident reporting
Medium Voltage systems, VSDs, SIMOCODE
Reading and analysing electrical schematics
Root cause analysis and shutdown execution
Other: Medical certificate of fitness required
Competencies
Advanced expertise in OHS Act compliance
Strong technical leadership and coaching ability
Operational decision‑making during breakdowns and emergencies
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
