Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Matric with Mathematics and Science, or an N3 qualification.
- Recognised Electrical Trade Test qualification.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience working with general plant equipment and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Sound knowledge of heavy-current electrical engineering principles.
- Experience with high-voltage equipment and power distribution systems.
- Strong fault-finding, preventative maintenance, inspection, and repair skills.
- Good understanding of electrical safety procedures, risk assessments, and isolation practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance on high-voltage electrical systems.
- Conduct fault-finding and repairs on electrical equipment and power supply units.
- Maintain switchgear, transformers, capacitor banks, and power distribution equipment.
- Carry out isolation and de-isolation of electrical systems according to approved procedures.
- Inspect and maintain UPS systems and emergency power equipment.
- Monitor equipment condition and report defects or abnormalities.
- Assist with investigating electrical trips and equipment malfunctions.
- Participate in maintenance planning and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with electrical safety standards.

- Follow lockout, tagout, isolation, and earthing procedures.
- Identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
