5. Important Advice for 2026

  • The "Community" Rule: Since JCT is a municipal entity, they prioritize candidates who live close to the theatres. Ensure your CV clearly states your current Johannesburg residential address.

  • Certification Validity: Government entities are very strict about the "3-month" rule for certified documents. If your copies were stamped more than 90 days ago, get them re-certified at a police station before applying.

  • Vetting: Shortlisted candidates will undergo background checks, including credit record, criminal record, and qualification validation.

  • Theatre Environment: Working in a theatre means you may be exposed to irregular hours or events. Emphasize your flexibility and interest in the arts and culture sector.

Tip: For the IT role, your engineering background in electrical systems and simulations is a great match. Highlight your technical troubleshooting and logical problem-solving skills, as these are critical for maintaining the complex systems used in modern theatres!
