Minimum Requirements
To enter the heavy engineering workshop division of this global mining equipment leader, candidates must meet the following criteria:
A completed Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science (Functional passes, not Mathematical Literacy).
OR
A completed N2, N3, or higher Technical Certificate with four subjects passed matching your targeted trade (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering Science, Trade Theory, and Industrial Electronics or Engineering Drawings).
High mechanical aptitude, spatial awareness, and a clear understanding of practical workshop logic.
Complete physical fitness to handle heavy machinery assemblies, lift components, and work inside active industrial bays.
Zero color blindness (critical for intricate electrical wire tracing, hydraulic routing, and fault diagnostics).
South African citizen aged 18 to 35 with a completely clear criminal record history.
Excellent communication skills in English (ability to read complex technical manuals, write fault logs, and follow precise safety instructions).

The apprenticeship intake focuses on core engineering fields required to maintain high-tech mining fleets:
Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic: Heavy diesel power units, transmission systems, and structural undercarriage assemblies.
Millwright / Electro-Mechanics: Combined automation electrical fault-finding and mechanical assembly diagnostics.
Auto Electrician: Intricate machine wiring arrays, electronic sensor networks, and computer-driven fleet telematics troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Exposure
Apprentices develop their hands-on skills under the strict mentorship of qualified Trade Artisans:
Learning to interpret complex engineering blueprints, electrical circuit schematics, and hydraulic layout parameters.
Dismantling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling heavy-duty mining drill rigs, loaders, and underground utility fleets.
Using specialized mechanical tools, torque wrenches, hydraulic pressure gauges, and electronic system diagnostic laptops.
Performing systematic preventative maintenance tasks and logging service parameters into the workshop data tracking sheets.
Adhering strictly to standard operating procedures, clean workshop hygiene rules, and the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
