Position Purpose
The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing Rainbow Chicken’s fleet and plant equipment to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines, vehicles, and plant machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical defects on trucks, forklifts, and generators
Conduct inspections and condition monitoring of equipment
Replace faulty components and certify refurbished equipment
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts usage
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
Support operational teams with technical guidance
Candidate Requirements
Qualification: Trade Test Certificate in Diesel Mechanics (NQF Level 4)
Experience: Minimum 3 years post‑trade practical experience
Skills:
Strong diagnostic and repair skills
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
Computer literacy (basic software)
Clear communication and teamwork abilities
Other: Valid driver’s licence
