Position Purpose
The Maintenance Operator (Mechanical) supports artisans and supervisors in performing mechanical maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Sasol’s plant equipment to ensure reliability, safety, and compliance with operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Apply and maintain safety standards in the workplace
Conduct plant inspections and mechanical repairs
Identify faults and perform corrective actions
Assist artisans with preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, and rotating equipment
Support installation, removal, and replacement of mechanical components
Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts usage
Participate in toolbox talks and training courses
Candidate Requirements
Qualification: Grade 12 with Maths, English & Science OR N3 Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 1–2 years relevant mechanical maintenance experience
Skills:
Basic mechanical knowledge
Ability to use hand tools and testing instruments
Computer literacy
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Other: Valid driver’s licence (Code C1/10)
