Are you a motivated individual with a knack for numbers and customer service? The Lekwa Local Municipality, headquartered in Standerton, is seeking four dynamic individuals to join our Budget and Treasury Office as Cashiers on a permanent basis.

Position: Cashier x4 (Permanent)
Reference number: BTO/C/004
Salary: R231 471.10 per annum (Task Grade 8)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 qualification
  • Relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting, Cost Management Accounting, or equivalent at NQF 5
  • Municipal Finance Management qualification (SAQA Qualification ID No. 48965) preferred
  • Good numerical and communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive payments on behalf of the Municipality
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues
  • Allocate payments correctly
  • Process deposits and internal payments
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions
  • Assist auditors as needed
  • Provide exceptional customer care services
  • Manage new connections, customer details changes, and service disconnections

  • Administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and within set time frames
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary: R293 429.60 per annum Task Grade 10

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Call Centre/Management Assistant/Administration or equivalent qualification at NQF 5.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good Interpersonal and Communication Skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Batho-Pele principles.
  • Required to work shift system or extended hours as and when the need arises.
  • Valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Receiving and logging all calls in line with policies and procedures.
  • Issuing complainants with a reference number.
  • Handling all inbound and outbound calls professionally.
  • Responding to complaints received via emails and other social media platforms.
  • Accurately logging all customer calls and referring them timeously to the department.
  • Providing administrative Service and Support to Customer Care Unit.
  • Attending to all Customer Care enquiries and complaints related to account information and transactions.
  • Demonstrating ability to understand how the activities at customer care enhance and maximize service delivery.
  • Delivering excellent and reliable customer service to all clients in line with the principles of Batho-Pele.
