Rand Water seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineering Assistant to support the Senior Mechanical Engineer with energy management and performance monitoring of operations.
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 6)
2 years’ relevant practical experience in an operational process plant environment
Mechanical/electrical experience
Desired: 4 years’ energy management/operational experience in process plants
Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
Code 08 driver’s licence
Primary Duties
Compile integrated shutdown plan
Monitor and report energy consumption
Manage energy budgeting and variance reporting
Ensure TOU system functionality
Relieve statistician duties when unavailable
Maintain operations statistics (opstats) across pumping stations
Monitor water balance discrepancies (below 3%)
Scrutinise opstats reports and circulate monthly
Ensure energy unaccounted <2%
Update efficiencies and meter readings monthly
Coordinate shutdown meetings and take minutes
