Job Overview
Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its Production department. The role involves maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and reliability improvement of production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance according to maintenance plans and OEM recommendations.
- Perform equipment inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments.
- Respond to breakdowns and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical faults.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, food safety, and environmental standards.
- Complete maintenance records accurately in the CMMS system.
- Support asset care initiatives such as 5S, RCA, and RCM.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Stores teams.
Functional Capabilities
- Mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding and repairs. 1
- Preventive and corrective maintenance execution.
- Equipment inspections and condition monitoring.
- Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
- Reading and interpretation of technical drawings and OEM documentation.
- SHEQ and GMP compliance.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- N3 Certificate with Trade Test as a Mechanical Fitter, Electrician, or Millwright.
Preferred
- N4 to N6 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Experience with both electrical and mechanical systems is preferred, particularly in bottling or packaging operations.
- Familiarity with food safety, hygiene, and SHEQ standards.
- Previous CMMS experience is advantageous.
Required Skills
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, motors, and sensors.
- Basic PLC and industrial automation understanding.
- Ability to read technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- SAP PM knowledge.
- Root cause analysis, teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
