Minimum Requirements
A minimum of Grade 10 or an equivalent school-leaving qualification.
Advantageous: A completed Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
Little to no formal experience required (prior cleaning experience within a busy retail supermarket, commercial kitchen, or hospitality environment is highly beneficial).
Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact politely with store staff and customers.
High physical stamina and fitness required to handle continuous manual labor, lifting, and extended periods of standing.
Clear understanding of basic hygiene and sanitation standards.
Complete willingness to work retail trading rosters, which include early morning shifts, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Clear criminal record (standard background screening tracking applies).
Key Responsibilities & Core Duties
Maintaining immaculate cleanliness, sanitation, and safety hygiene standards across the entire store floor, aisles, and checkout points.
Operating commercial floor scrubbing machinery, mops, and vacuum equipment safely and efficiently.
Cleaning, dusting, and sanitizing fresh produce displays, refrigeration units, food preparation counters, and shelves.
Managing the scullery area by washing, sanitizing, and neatly packing away baking trays, kitchen utensils, and food preparation machinery components.
Cleaning, scrubbing, and provisioning staff restrooms, public toilets, and administrative office blocks daily.
Emptying indoor waste bins, sorting organic food waste from dry recyclables, and disposing of refuse securely at warehouse dumping bays.
Monitoring store cleaning chemical inventory levels, reporting shortages, and ensuring strict adherence to safe chemical mixing and storage protocols.
